Project for Public Spaces - pps.org

I've been enjoying reading and learning about Placemaking at PPS.org for a few months and wanted to share some links to it for anyone interested in having a conversation about placemaking work being done in our neighborhoods.

Conversations inviting our invisible assets

Hi, ASG friends!

This post is about Asset Based Community, specifically the gifts of the community members of The Phoenix Place, in Amelia, Ohio. It's also about an Asset Experiment, in which we hope to uncover, name and share the sometimes invisible gifts of people in recovery from mental illness.

Mag Casarez, Director of The Phoenix Place, asked if I'd help her let everyone know about this workshop eventContinue

A friend's writing (and reading) featured on NPR today

I'm just posting this to share a friend's wonderful Veteran's Day reading, featured this morning on NPR.

Forrest (Woody) Brandt, now a retired lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserves and an adjunct professor at Northern Kentucky University, wrote about the day he came home from Vietnam in 1969. Jane and I have come to know Woody through our participation in writing classes at Women Writing for a Change.

Hearing a friend on NPR this morning was a fine surprise. Listening to and reading his piec… Continue

In what City & State do you live?
Cincinnati, Ohio
What is your Neighborhood?
Deerpark
What is your work? -- NOTE: all of these Q's may be updated any time and may be as brief or as long as you wish.
Web / new media research & development.

Community web development.

Consulting and partnering on "Deeper Digital" projects: using the myriad new tools and communication capabilities available to us today to enhance and support our deeper lives and connections, vs. using them as just more ways to be distracted.
What originally brought you to A Small Group? What brought you to this ASG site?
A SMALL GROUP: I first got involved with ASG in 2003 after inviting Peter to speak at New Thought Unity Center, which become the start of several Civic Engagement series held at NTUC. I found in ASG the beginnings of a community of practice (of the 6 conversations, among other things) and of action. It's been a place of growing friendship and a sense of belonging and welcome that is a valuable part of my life. THIS SITE: I set-up this ning site with Collete Thompson as a place to which we might migrate our current asmallgroup.net website and also convene a more interactive and inviting space for all.
With what organizations or groups do you work today?
ASG, Women Writing for a Change, Cincy.com, International Enneagram Association, The Center for Independent Living Options, Be Concerned.
ASG Questions: Select one to answer below, if you like (or pass - that's always ok):
What Possibility is stirring in your heart today?
Your current answer to the selected question (you may update this and other profile items any time):
The rebirth of the Commons in community and a city aware of its gifts and power to create an alternative future.
Anything else you'd like to share about yourself?
My personal site is www.weeks.org.

LAST QUESTION -- First, a closing note: Thank you for your interest in A SMALL GROUP. Membership is free and open. We do, however, review each new member to be sure that the site is not being abused by spam posters. The more complete your profile, the easier it will be to verify. Your membership will be activated as soon as a moderator can review it. THANKS AGAIN! ------ On to the final item: WHAT IS YOUR WEBSITE ADDRESS?

Thanks Randy. I consider myself less of a big picture thinker, than a problem solver, one issue at a time. I'm particularly interested in hearing from others on their specific experiences. I realize the focus may be on Cincinnati and so I hope to see topics that go can be applied to any locale.
