Although A Small Group is currently based in Cincinnati, Ohio, we have friends and fellow community members in Dayton, Columbus, Indianapolis and many other places. Regardless of your location, we invite you to join us. Please tell us a little about your community (or country, for that matter!).

Mt. Healthy, Ohio is a mile square town to the north of Cincinnati. It is a town of trades people, small business owners, and working class folks. It is one of many older suburbs of Cincinnati now in danger of decline since its housing stock does not appeal to those who want "Big Mac" new homes.

What is your work? -- NOTE: all of these Q's may be updated any time and may be as brief or as long as you wish.

I am a researcher, writer and now AmeriCorps worker. I am working for the Intercommunity Justice and Peace Center (in the same building as Small Groups) for 2008-2009.

What originally brought you to A Small Group? What brought you to this ASG site?

I am still walking 15 miles a day and smile when I think about people who always "drive and drive alone" to meetings about urban sprawl, global warming, or saving the environment.

Studs Turkel Passes On

Louis Terkel arrived here as a child from New York City and in Chicago found not only a new name but a place that perfectly matched--in its energy, its swagger, its charms, its heart--his own personality. They made a perfect and enduring pair.

Author-radio host-actor-activist and Chicago symbol Louis "Studs" Terkel died today at his Chicago home at age 96.

Liked his books and got to see him once in person at a conference of the AQP, Peter Block's and my old organization.

My daughter Megan spent a year in Americorps NCCC and it was an amazing thing to see from my place as her Dad, in addition to how she says it's changed her life and the lives of her fellow corps members.

I've enjoyed reading a bit of your website, as well and would love to meet you and talk some time.
