What originally brought you to A Small Group? What brought you to this ASG site?
I originally attended a Civic Engagement Series - about 4-5 years ago at New Thought Unity. The structure of the gathering immediately resonated with me. I came to a few more CESs - and then started coming to the monthly ASG meetings and Intensives.

The power of ASG for me is that it provides an alternative conversation about community. Being part of ASG has allowed me to experience the most inclusive community I have ever been part of. The more I am part of this community, the more I am becoming myself - removing my mask. My hope is this is helping me build community where ever I am.
With what organizations or groups do you work today?
Off The Map - a virtual ministry out of Seattle WA led by Jim Henderson. www.offthemap.com
Conversational Evangelism - a conference based ministry led by Todd Hunter - www.conversationalevangelism.net
ASG Questions: Select one to answer below, if you like (or pass - that's always ok):
What is the NO you've been postponing?
Your current answer to the selected question (you may update this and other profile items any time):
I've selected this question - only to say we had a great discussion at this month's meeting regarding dissent. We used 2 questions to help us explore our thoughts and feelings on Dissent.
1. what are your doubts and reservations about expressing dissent?
2. what is the cost to you and others to withhold your dissent?

Great discussion. More to come.
Do you have a suggestion for a great question of your own?
see comment above on dissent
LAST QUESTION -- First, a closing note: Thank you for your interest in A SMALL GROUP. Membership is free and open. We do, however, review each new member to be sure that the site is not being abused by spam posters. The more complete your profile, the easier it will be to verify. Your membership will be activated as soon as a moderator can review it. THANKS AGAIN! ------ On to the final item: WHAT IS YOUR WEBSITE ADDRESS?

Facilitation Resources - provided by Chris Corrigan for the Community

Through the Art of Hosting (AoH) listserve - I've received a link to Chris Corrigan's website. He has created a resource page of facilitiation tools. He invited us to share this with others.

A brief discription from the page: http://chriscorrigan.com/parkinglot/?page_id=958

Facilitation Resources
Here is a collection of resources I use in my facilitation practice. By and large these resources support facilitation of participatory and self-organizing process at scales ranging from very small groups to large conferences. I use some of these tools directly and others as inspirations to design and create my own processes.

The first section provides links to participatory group process that are inclusive and self-organizing to varying degrees. The section on process architecture and maps contains links to sites whose worldviews can inform process design from single meetings to large scale change. The nest two sections cover more specific tools useful for particular purposes, and finally the fourth section contains links to sources of ongoing inspiration.

Taken together, this page could be said to form my facilitation manual. I hope it serves you as well.

Enjoy!

The World has shifted -

This has been working on me for a while. I left this writing sit to be sure I really believed it.

For all of us that have experienced this shift, I feel there is an obligation for us to spread the word - to help others to have eyes and ears to hear this new world order that is evolving.

Maybe you've only had a moment where it seemed like the group really came together - lots of energy - no egos - generosity of spirit -love. That is the new way of being in the world.

So here are my thoughts on… Continue

What's happening in Cincinnati - great resources to keep you in the know

I don't know what planet I've been on - but after discovering a few new websites - I realize I've missed a lot of "good stuff" that is happening in Greater Cincinnati.

Check these sites out:

Soapbox Cincinnati

If you already knew about these, why didn't you tell me?

Please share these links with others. Thx. :)

Open Government Dialogue

At the recent LSOW gathering (Leading in a Self-Organizing World) - I had the chance to briefly meet Tom Atlee. I encourage you to consider the invitation below and participate in this conversation.

As I have not had time to read everything on these links, do not assume I agree with everything said. If I actually read everything, I will come back to you and let you know my thoughts. What I have read, I find interesting and worthy of conversation.

Either go directly to the link or take time to… Continue

it is the reality of personal relationship that saves everything

This is not so much a blog - as my way of encouraging the A Small Group community to continue to build relationship where ever we show up...blessings my friends.

Thomas Merton wrote, in a letter to a friend he advised:

Do not depend on the hope of results… you may have to face the fact that your work will be apparently worthless and achieve no result at all, if not perhaps the opposite to what you expect. As you get used to this idea, you start more and more to concentrate not on the results b… Continue

Hi Elaine...thank you for the warm welcome! C11 came about somewhat by happenstance, somewhat by design and mostly through the desires of a group of committed individuals wanting to make a difference. The genesis was a cold January gathering to talk about learning with and from each other. As we each told of what we were looking for in a group, learning was a definite theme, but what was emerging more strongly was each person's desire to do something more, to give back somehow. That set us on fabulous adventure. Over the next 11 months we determined our values, our big dreams and what exactly we would offer people. In Dec. 08 we put out our first offering to 11 (hmmm, coincidence really) for-service organizations - collectively we are offering approx. 350 hours of our time to assist organizations in the area of leadership, coaching, HR etc. We work together on design to leverage the collective knowledge, expertise and energy. We are currently working with two organizations. It's been fabulous!

Hello, Elaine!

Unfortunately, my schedule at the hospital almost always prevents my making our First Friday meetings. Hope to do more with ASG soon!

Barbara,

It was good to see you Monday evening and the conversation with John Schuster. I bought his book.
It is always so find to discover how people are connected to other people - you and John Schuster. It is that whole 6 degrees of separation - we are closer to each other than we think. :)

If I can get my work done - I will be at the ASG Holiday Party today. Hope to see you there.
