Profile Information

In what City & State do you live?
Cincinnati, Ohio
What is your Neighborhood?
Spring Grove Village
Although A Small Group is currently based in Cincinnati, Ohio, we have friends and fellow community members in Dayton, Columbus, Indianapolis and many other places. Regardless of your location, we invite you to join us. Please tell us a little about your community (or country, for that matter!).
I live in Spring Grove Village, which used to be known as Winton Place. It is a place of great natural beauty, the home of Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum and lesser- known Wooden Shoe Hollow which was the original source of the city’s fresh produce for over a hundred years before the change in the food delivery systems. It has an active community council, that works to address neighborhood development and at times survival with its long history of environmental difficulties from industry and landfills. Members of the community have contributed substantially to the evolution of the City’s Zoning Code during its recent revision and even created a new designation Manufacturing/Agriculture which both recognizes the history of the urban agriculture and cottage industries and supports continuation of such sustainable businesses in establishing a definition of light industry which is needed in this era. This diverse community consistently shows up as one of the safest in the city and full of wonderful places to live at affordable prices. Many members have lived there for years and years and take part in its development.
What is your work? -- NOTE: all of these Q's may be updated any time and may be as brief or as long as you wish.
My work is to stay awake to the wonder and possibilities that life constantly reveals. This helps me to keep perspective on the great difficulties that many people suffer. My work is also to continue to learn what I can about the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of human experience.

For my professional work I offer holistic therapeutic services integrating my licenses as a professional clinical counselor and professional massage therapist. I pay particular attention to the body in support of recovery from trauma and the stresses of life. I also teach in these professions offering courses at XU in the summers and Presence Practice workshops.

For my creative work I enjoy forming things from clay in ceramic arts, writing and sharing music, and looking at the wonders of the world through the lens of my camera.
What originally brought you to A Small Group? What brought you to this ASG site?
I have always been deeply interested in the expression and listening of communication. A friend of mine invited me to the Pleasant Ridge Civic Engagement Series. I was hooked. After reading more of Peter’s work I eventually started going to the First Friday meetings to learn more. I also wanted to see who was out there and get myself to make more connections. It has been most rewarding. I came to this site to do the same.
With what organizations or groups do you work today?
I have been involved with Spring Grove Village/Winton Hills efforts--mostly zoning and environmental issues. I helped to bring the Civic Engagement Series to the neighborhood. This has been a great gift to further neighborhood projects. Currently several of us who are connected with ASG have begun to include some of the Civic Engagement process into the Community Council meetings and events sponsored by Village Works which hosts picnics and other neighborhood events to connect neighbors.
ASG Questions: Select one to answer below, if you like (or pass - that's always ok):
Why is it important that you're here on this network today?
Your current answer to the selected question (you may update this and other profile items any time):
Signing up today confirms my interest and commitment to be part of ASG to learn the process and offer my abilities. Over the time I have been connected with ASG I have increased my participation in my neighborhood activities and intend to continue that. I also want to support the Civic Engagement process in our city. I will be inviting people to a concert program with community conversation as a way of experimenting with my way of understanding the process and passing it on. (likely date March 15.) I’ll post details soon.
Anything else you'd like to share about yourself?
I'll add more another time so that thinking about these last two does not put off getting signed up now. Thanks to everyone I have met in this process.
LAST QUESTION -- First, a closing note: Thank you for your interest in A SMALL GROUP. Membership is free and open. We do, however, review each new member to be sure that the site is not being abused by spam posters. The more complete your profile, the easier it will be to verify. Your membership will be activated as soon as a moderator can review it. THANKS AGAIN! ------ On to the final item: WHAT IS YOUR WEBSITE ADDRESS?

Hello Ed and welcome! Small world, eh? I "joined" ASG in 2005. Unfortunately, my recent work schedule has prevented me from attending the First Friday meeting for some time. Hope to see you again, soon, one of these days/weeks/months!
